One of our SEO clients recently acquired another company and wanted to merge the two sites into one. Basically, our client's domain would stay live and be re-designed and rewritten to include all the relevant products that domain B (the company they acquired) would now be offering under our client's brand name. Domain B would be deleted one the new site was ready to go.
