B2B Blogging Shortcuts

Being the only person responsible for the content of your B2B business blog can be a heavy burden, especially when you have a full plate of other responsibilities you're supposed to manage. You don't have to go it alone! To help keep your B2B blog supplied with a constant stream of new content (and get great new perspectives for your readers) ask your coworkers and employees to each write one post a month for the company blog. Chances are the IT director is going to take a different point of view than a sales representative, even if they are writing about the same thing. Every post they write is one less that you have to do!

How Does User Intent Affect Keyword Research?

Quick question-what's the difference between running shoes, gym shoes and tennis shoes? Are the three terms relatively interchangeable or do they have very specific meanings to you? That right there is user intent. When an avid tennis player searches for "tennis shoes" they are expecting to find a very specific product. A mom looking for new shoes to for when her kids go back to school might search using "tennis shoes" even though her kids don't actually play tennis. They both used the same search phrase to look for different things. Is your site optimized to take user intent into account?

Business Blogging: Less Isn't More

Every website or business owner has a different idea of what their business blog should look like. When first starting out, they can go in with high expectations. They think that a business blog needs to meet specific standards and that posts should be a minimum of 1,000 words, thoroughly researched, and include supporting data. The truth is that having expectations this high for many businesses is unrealistic. Since the expectations can't be met on a regular basis it results in only a small number of posts going live on the blog. The perception that it's better to have fewer posts that are more in depth than more posts that briefly discuss a topic is flawed. In fact, the opposite is true.  Blogging is unlike other forms of content marketing in that it is less formal and the habits of someone reading a blog is unlike the habits of someone reading a whitepaper. Blog readers tend to browse many different blogs looking for new insights and small bits of information. They rarely have the time to read an extremely long post. If they come across a long post that looks interesting, it's often bookmarked to be read later. It rarely is.

With more complex algorithms that factor in local, personal and
universal search features, search rankings are not always consistent.

Today's results often depend on a user's location, their search history
and their behavior with the search results

Sometimes you can see different search results for the same search
terms, even on two different computers in the same location.
