The Challenge of Attaining Wikipedia Links
| If you do a search for anything, really- anything, it's likely that within the first few results is the corresponding Wikipedia page. This means that Wikipedia is obviously a very trusted site that has high authority in the eyes of the search engines. Isn't the whole point of link building to attain links from high authority sites like this? Getting a link from a site like Wikipedia conveys that your site is viewed as an authority site by association. Since Wikipedia is a user edited site, it should be easy to get a page for your business and generate links, right? Unfortunately that's not how it works. While it's somewhat simple to actually set up a page for your business, it's the editorial review that is the tough part. Wikipedia prides itself on being a site that people can share helpful information with one another. CLICK HERE TO READ MORE

What is Digital Sharecropping?
| Back in August 2011 I came across this post on Copyblogger about digital sharecropping and it has stuck with me ever since. In a nutshell, digital sharecropping means you create content but then publish it on a site you have no control over, such as Facebook. You may "own" the content as the original author, but the site you published it on (the landlord, so to speak) is the one that reaps all the benefits. As Sonia Simone of Copyblogger said in her post: In other words, anyone can create content on sites like Facebook, but that content effectively belongs to Facebook. The more content we create for free, the more valuable Facebook becomes. We do the work, they reap the profit.I've read more than a few blog posts and articles over the last few years that suggest it's better to abandon the traditional website (which some say is nothing more than an online brochure) and focus the majority of your online marketing efforts into building up your social profiles. On Page SEO Will Only Take You So Far
| In my opinion, any full service SEO campaign should be broken into two parts: on page SEO and offsite link building. Whenever I'm working with a new client I always start with on page SEO first which includes keyword research, content optimization, high level SEO recommendations to the site structure and so forth. SEO Tips When Switching to a New Website
| Whenever a client says that they want to redesign their website, we can't help but shudder a bit. A big SEO ranking factor is the trust of your website. Making lots of changes to the website can result in some of the SEO trust being lost, especially if the migration to the new site isn't implemented properly and some key components are overlooked. Don't forget the Analytics code! Every smart website owner should set up analytics on their site, specifically Google Analytics. The purpose of having a website is for it to get found online and Google is the most popular search engine. Google Analytics is a free tool that provides website owners with a wealth of information including traffic information, visitor sources, and keywords that generated visitors.
