Are There Good Paid Links for SEO?

When it comes to white hat SEO, there are a lot of rules to follow. The search engines lay out certain guidelines that must be abided by in order to be viewed favorably by the search engines. The black hat SEO practitioners pretty much ignore these guidelines and prefer to risk it. Black hat tactics might get your website to perform well in the search engines for a period of time, but typically will catch up with you.

Should You Outsource Your Guest Blogging and Outreach?

There is no shortage of reasons for a company to add guest blogging and outreach to their content marketing strategy-it helps builds quality links, gets your brand introduced to a wider audience, help you connect with potential customers, grows your online authority and much, much more. But many small to mid-sized companies seem to struggle with guest blogging and outreach (and their content marketing campaigns in general) because they don't have the in-house talent to keep up with the increased demand for content.

Don't Host a Business Blog on a Separate Domain

One of the best ways to give your SEO program a boost is to become a content marketing machine. Content that includes targeted keywords is what gets noticed by the search engine spiders and content that provides useful information is what gets noticed and shared by target audience members. Win win. Any SEO Specialist will recommend that you start a business blog in order to have an outlet to share content on a regular basis. A website owner has two options. First, they could buy a new domain titled something like "servicethatioffertips.com". Second, they could incorporate the blog onto their existing website.

SEO Tactics for New Website Owners

It's a policy of ours to only take on a new full service SEO client if their site has existed for at least a year or two. This is because a brand new site doesn't yet have the search engine trust that is necessary in order to see a measurable improvement in ranking or traffic in the short term (approximately 6 months). What we often recommend to new business owners/website owners is to do some SEO work on their site on their own first.

Are You Guilty of Under-Optimization?

A little ways back we wrote a post titled, "Are You Guilty of Over-Optimization?" At the time, the Google Penguin update was somewhat recent and some website owners were seeing a huge dip in traffic and rankings. These sites were guilty of what Google believed to be "over-optimization" or going overboard with SEO tactics to try and gain an unfair advantage over the competition. Some ways in which website owners were over-optimizing were by using keyword rich domain names as opposed to the brand name or creating keyword rich microsites that had the sole purpose of ranking for specific keywords.

Is Your Business Blog Conveying the Wrong Message?

Business blogging is highly recommended for any business that is looking to improve upon its SEO efforts, social media efforts, and online marketing efforts overall. For SEO purposes, a blog post is an opportunity to target relevant keywords. Each blog post is a new page of content on the website and can rank in the search engines over time. Every time a new post, or page, is added to the website the search engine spiders will come back to crawl and index the site. The search engines favor sites that include "fresh" content. Blog posts also serve as content that can be shared in social media. A social media profile is only beneficial if it's active and posting content that will keep followers engaged and generate a response. While many businesses have incorporated blogs onto their website, they aren't all going about business blogging the right way.

Use B2B Social Media to Nurture Leads

Social media often poses more challenges for B2Bs as opposed to B2Cs. B2Cs typically have a wider audience and are more likely to appeal to the masses that are already actively engaged within social media. B2Cs can hold contests in social media and offer coupons, discounts, etc. that keep followers interested in the brand.

Are Your Referral Links Driving Traffic?

Also known as inbound links, referral links are the links you've built on high-quality sites that help drive targeted traffic over to your site. One of the best ways to ensure that your link building stays white hat and doesn't run afoul of the Google Penguin update is to make sure you are going after referral links that could actually direct people to your site.
