Obviously, Google is the king of search. Sure, Bing has made impressive strides and some people will never stray from Yahoo! but when it comes to search, Google is where it's at and has by far the largest share of the search market. Google is so much more than a search engine and has become a part of our everyday lives. As a business owner you want your website to perform well in Google in order to get traffic which will turn into sales and leads. A popular consensus in SEO circles is to optimize your website for Google. If it performs well there, it will perform well in the other search engines too. Since we have all put Google up on this high and mighty pedestal, it's understandable that we need to be aware of any changes going on within Google and the Google search algorithm. It's just important to keep this in check, and not stress out whenever a change is made.

Don't Keep Your Content Locked Away

One of the main goals of a strong content marketing strategy should be to educate your target audience; this is especially true in the B2B world. You want to become their go-to resource. This helps you build a relationship over time with that potential customer so that when the time does come for them to begin the buying process you are at the top of their list. A content marketing campaign can also help educate your target audience so they become better consumers for your business. For instance, I prefer to work with business owners that understand the basics of SEO because it makes it easier to keep the ball rolling. To create my own "perfect" customer, I focus my content marketing on much of the SEO basics and strategies that I use. I want to teach someone why visitor growth is more important than rank now, before they are a client, and not spend the first few months of our relationship going back and forth about it and making minimal headway with the campaign. If I kept most on my content locked away and made it accessible only after someone was a client, I would lose that window of opportunity to educate them.
