Conduct a search for "SEO is dead" and you'll get plenty of results. It's no wonder why website owners have become skeptical of the practice. If the "experts" are saying that SEO is dead, it must be right? After all, the search engines are always changing the rules meaning that what was acceptable even a few months ago might not be acceptable now. So why bother?

What it meant to "do SEO" even just a few years ago is drastically different than what it means today. Some elements remain the same, conduct keyword research and implement approved keywords into on site content. But the ongoing component of SEO, or how a website becomes trusted in the eyes of the search engines, has evolved. SEO used to be about link building, whereas now it's more about link earning.

The web is constantly evolving and changing and users expect a certain level of professionalism when visiting business websites. Even if your site has great content and provides all of the necessary information that a visitor might need, the layout and design can start to look dated after awhile. That's why it's necessary to give your website an update every 3-5 years or so in order to stay current.
