I had an SEO client that moved their site to a new URL (without telling me first) and they forget to redirect all the links (which counted in the thousands and was over two years of link building work!) from their old site to the new. The end result? Their site went from 15,000 unique visitors a month to barely 2,000. A brand new domain has zero trust with the search engines, so essentially it was like they were starting over from scratch.
