Who Has Access to Your Website?

This post is a little off the beaten SEO path, but website security is no joke and something that every site owner (no matter how big or how small) should take very seriously. You don't want anyone having any kind of access to your website, blog, social profiles, etc without your explicit permission because the damage and fallout can ruin your online brand.
A few months ago I was checking on a client's site in Google Analytics when I noticed there was no data from the previous 9 days or so. A quick dig through their site revealed that somehow the Google Analytics tracking code had been removed from their site. No one would own up to making any changes to the site that might have somehow removed the tracking code (such as editing any code, updating the templates in WordPress or installing new plugins) so we quickly re-added the code back into the footer and everything went back to normal.

She has written for both ClickZ and Search Engine Watch about paid search. Lisa is a Google AdWords Certified Partner. Question: What should a site owner do to increase their AdWords quality score? Answer from Lisa Raehsler: The Quality Score in Adwords looks at rating an advertiser's ad to determine how relevant they are to the searcher.

User Friendly Content Improves SEO

While inserting keywords into SEO content is important, there's a lot more to it than that. In order for SEO content to be successful it needs to be user friendly, or have good "readability". User friendly content improves SEO efforts because the more "readable" the content is, the more it will get linked to naturally across the web and shared in social media, improving the increasingly important "social signals" of the content. So what makes SEO content user friendly and more likely to be shared?

Don't Rely on Just Google for Website Visitors

Ever heard the saying, "don't put all of your eggs in one basket"? Well it's a phrase that is applicable to the online marketing world too. A positive Google search presence is certainly important, which is why we are able to survive as an SEO business. Even so, we would never suggest that a positive Google search presence is sufficient. It's not! You shouldn't base the long term success of your website and the traffic that it generates only on Google, or any of the search engines for that matter. It's important to focus on other traffic sources too. We know that your target audience is using Google. That's a given. But where else are they hanging out on the web? These other potential referral sites can be a great source of traffic. Usually the best sites that are going to send relevant traffic to your site are the ones that provide something that is in some way related to what your site offers.
