Achieve Natural Links with B2B Content

Link building as part of a B2B SEO program has evolved over the years. Inbound links pointing to a site are what help to convey trust to the search engines. If a site has a link from an outside source, it means that the site is trusted by that source. In the early days of SEO the focus was on the number of links as the search engines weren't initially sophisticated enough to determine the quality of the link. However, the search engines continue to improve upon their algorithm and link quality is what now matters the most. Instead of focusing on "link building", B2B marketers should really be thinking about "link achieving". So how does "link achieving" differ from "link building"? Well, technically it is the same thing, but it's just a different way of looking at link building.

What Information is the B2B Customer Looking For?

B2Bs can struggle with ongoing content creation because they think that there is nothing to write about or that anything they write about is boring. First of all, there is ALWAYS something to write about. No matter what industry you are in there are plenty of topics that can engage target audience members. It's OK, and probably necessary, to step outside of the box a bit and write about things that are related to your business/industry as opposed to being only about the exact niche that you are in. Second, SEO content doesn't have to be exciting.

Interview with Global SEM Expert Bill Hunt

Recently I had the chance to interview global SEM and social media expert Bill Hunt. Thanks to Bill for taking the time to answer my questions! Question: You got your start in SEM back in 1994; what made you get involved so early in the game?

Is Your Website In the Google Sandbox?

In order to measure the quality of a site and the kind of experience that it will provide, Google needs to figure out what the "trust" of the website is. Since trust can only be earned over time, it means that brand new websites don't have it yet. The Google Sandbox theory is that Google puts new websites into a "Sandbox" before they can rank well in a Google search and make their way to the top of a search result.

Google does this because it wants to make sure that a website is legitimate before ranking it prominently.

Why Risk Your Website with Black Hat SEO Tactics?

Let me start off by saying that I am a strictly white hat SEO practitioner, and that means that I make sure that all the SEO work I do for my clients, as well as for Brick Marketing itself, falls in line with the Google and Bing Webmaster Tools guidelines. That being said, I have seen plenty of sites in my 13 year career that practiced grey and black hat SEO tactics and done just fine-some SEO firms that used black hat SEO tactics to get to the top even out-performed Brick Marketing in the search engines for a very long time.
